Bunny told me that her teacher at school was reading "charlie and the chocolate factory". I own , Willy Wonka's Charlie and the chocolate factory movie, and told the kids we'd watch it tonight together. It was one of my favorites. My kids watched the movie straight through with many questions through out. I soon realized that they were missing the essence of the movie. As I was putting them down to bed, Lamb starts crying and tells me that those oompas were really scary. It took her a bit to go to sleep. Bunny was telling her she was silly but now 11:30 pm , she is still awake. She's watching the Phillies game with daddy. She snuck in a "mommy, those oompas were a little bit scary!", before she went down to watch the game. AH! She can't go to sleep b/c she's afraid of the oompas. I should have used better judgment... I think I was scared of them once.

Scary Oompa Loompas

ha ha ha... i remember strangely liking the movie even though it was totally freaky! there are more than a few psychadelic moments (the LSD-induced boat ride?) that seem child-safe in the book, but don't translate well to the screen. i love Roald Dahl though. someday your kiddos will appreciate that you exposed them to the original version of the movie.
too funny. i was really afraid of that movie, too. JWK always wanted to rent that and i always wanted a care bears movie. she always won and i had to suffer through scary oompa loompas and the thought of blowing up like a big blueberry.
Ha. Actually, I've heard that this IS considered quite scary for a lot of kids. The psychedelic chocolate river ride, the kids getting into mishaps, the oompa Loompas...
But then, LN won't watch The Little Mermaid because it's scary.
Poor thing! They are kind of scary if you think about it. Hope you're well!
